Step-by-step instructions On How To Ship A Cheesecake

Essentially, shipping cheesecakes include packing the dessert into two boxes. Because of this, it protects the cake while traveling to its destination. And this tip is also essential to preserve its cold temperature. 

With that, you will need to purchase a box that will give you just enough room to fit the cheesecake. In addition to packing materials inside, a bigger box can hold the first box and more packing peanuts. If possible, you may avoid shipping perishables during the hot weather months of June, July, August, and September.

Step 1

Place the cheesecake inside the freezer overnight or until frozen solid. With that, avoid shipping the cheesecake unless frozen. Remember, the cheesecake can last 3 to 6 months when stored in a freezer.

Step 2

Then, wrap the cheesecake with five layers of plastic wrap. Ensure to pull the wrapping tightly over the cake. With that, do it as you loop the plastic around it for each layer. After that, ensure to tuck the loose ends firmly around the pan. Likewise, under the bottom when you finish.

Step 3

Afterward, take the smaller corrugated cardboard box. And line its bottom with shipping or packing peanuts. 

Step 4

After that, take your cheesecake wrapped with plastic wrap. And let it sit on top of the shipping peanuts.

Next, lay your cloth or dishtowel over the top of your cheesecake to protect its surface. Then, tuck the ends of the dishtowel under the cheesecake pan. 

Step 6

Make sure to start tucking a packet of dry ice. In that regard, do it on all four sides of the box against the cheesecake pan. Also, layer one packet of dry ice on top of the cloth covering the cheesecake.

Step 7

Afterward, begin filling the box with shipping peanuts completely. After that, pack them inside tightly around the cheesecake to move around when shipped.

Step 8

Next, firmly tape the box, shutting it properly using clear packing tape.

Then, put another layer of shipping peanuts on the bottom of the big packaging box.

After that, place the small box on top of the shipping or packing peanuts inside the big box.

Step 11

Fill the big box with packing peanuts to the top. Take note that you need to pack the big box with packing peanuts densely. Doing this keeps the smaller box from shifting inside.

Step 12

Then, take your packing tape, and seal the big box shut as you did with the smaller box.

Step 13

On each side of the box, write “FRAGILE” and “PERISHABLE.” Write in large, neat capital letters using a red marker. With that, label the box legibly so the handlers and the recipient can read what you wrote on the box.

Step 14

On the top of the box, make sure to put the shipping address using a black felt-tipped marker. 

Step 15

Afterward, in the upper left-hand corner, put your return address using the black marker. It is in case something goes wrong with the package that you sent. 

Step 16

On top of the box, in the bottom left corner, write This End Up. With that, make sure to write in capital letters using the red marker. To make sure you handled it properly.

Step 17

Finally, immediately take your package to your closest post office, UPS station, or Fed Ex location for delivery. You may request that they send a receipt to you when the box arrives at its destination.
