Dream Whip is owned by Kraft. Released to the market in 1957

Is a fantastic whip cream that we can prepare ourselves at home. It comes in a little box as a powder that doesn’t contain any dairy ingredients.

This wonderful product has saved my life many times. It takes only 4 minutes to make it! Plus, it has 2 packets of product in a small box or 4 in the large box. Each envelope makes 2 cups of dream whip topping.

Heavy Whipping Cream vs Dream Whip

There are many differences between these two. Here is a list of them so you can compare.

Heavy Whipping Cream

  • Has more fat than the dream whip.
  • Its butterfat content ranges between 36 and 40%.
  • It’s extremely rich and thick when whipped.
  • When whipped, it doubles its size.
  • The easiest to whip.
  • It should be refrigerated to prevent it from spoiling.

Dream Whip

  • It’s labeled lactose-free. Though, it contains whey and sodium caseinate, which comes from milk.
  • Can be stored in a dry place. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
  • Its shelf life is more stable than heavy whipping cream. It can last for years.
  • Less fat than the heavy whipping cream.
  • You can also store prepared Dream Whip covered in the fridge. This will last for a few days.

What Are The Ingredients In Dream Whip?

Dream whip is made of 14 different ingredients.

  1. Sugar
  2. Dextrose
  3. Coconut and palm kernel oils
  4. Modified cornstarch
  5. Emulsifier: propylene glycol monostearate
  6. Sodium caseinate -from milk-
  7. Less than 2% of cellulose gel
  8. Cellulose gum
  9. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose
  10. Natural and artificial flavors
  11. Other emulsifiers: acetylate mono and diglycerides
  12. Anticaking agent: sodium silicoaluminate

For this dream whip cheesecake recipe, we are going to use morello cherries. But if you don’t find them, don’t worry, you can just use whatever canned cherries you find at the supermarket without a problem. Moreover, there are plenty of brands out there in the market, so pick your favorite one.

So here it is. The list of ingredients you’ll need and the step-by-step guide to make a beautiful and delicious cheesecake. The perfect dessert to share with anyone.

Ingredients to Make Your Crust

  • 1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/3 cup of melted butter
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • Cooking spray -butter flavored preferable-

Ingredients to Make Your Dream Whip Topping

  • 1/2 cup of dream ship powder
  • 125 ml of cold milk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

Ingredients Needed for the Cheesecake Filling

  • 375 g of cream cheese -at room temperature-
  • 500 g of ricotta cheese -at room temperature-
  • 4 tbsp of cold water
  • 2 tbsp of cornflour
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 4 medium-size eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups of morello cherries
  • zest and juice for 1 lemon
  • powdered sugar and fresh cherries to decorate

Step-by-Step Directions for the Crust

Step #1: Preheat the oven

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step #2: Mix and grease

Mix all of the ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Grease your springform pan with cooking spray. Then, press evenly across the bottom of your springform pan.

Step #3: Bake

Bake your crust for 8 or 10 minutes.

Step #4: Let it cool

Remove from the oven, set aside, and let it cool at room temperature while you continue with the next step guide.

Step-by-Step Directions for the Cheesecake

Step #1: Start mixing

In a cup, mix the water and the cornflour -you can also use cornstarch if you don’t have cornflour-. Give it a good mix until you get a nice lump-free paste. And once it’s mixed through, place it aside.

Step #2: Keep going

Next, into a mixing bowl, place your room temperature cream cheese and ricotta cheese. Mix these two for a few minutes until everything is well combined or nice and creamy. Then, add the sugar and mix for 2 minutes, until dissolved.

Then, add the eggs at low speed. Make sure you add the eggs one at a time. Let it mix through and add the lemon zest and juice. Finally, add the cornstarch mixture and mix for another minute.

Step #3: Prepare your cheesecake

First, pour half of the cheesecake cream onto your crust. Second, sprinkle the entire jar on top. Then, cover this up with the rest of the cheesecake mixture.

Step #4: Bake time!

Place your cheesecake into the preheated oven at 150 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour and 10 minutes.

Step #5: Let it cool

Remove from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature. Once is completely cooled, take it into the fridge for at least 3 hours.

Mix the ingredients at low speed with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes. Then, at high speed for 6 minutes or until peaks form.
